Sunray

Sun's entry into the DOIP race is called a SunRay. Its primary value?
It's a PC you never, ever upgrade. Whose intelligence is located in
someone else's datacenter. With a beautiful monitor secured with a SIM
card (just like the one in your cell phone). No, it's not perfect for
all applications - SunRay's only work where Google works (ie, where
there's a reasonable network connection). But I wouldn't bet against
ubiquitous network coverage. Even on an airplane.

Ingenious natives have the highest rate of criminal injustice, poverty, highest suicides, lowest education. However north. Ontario is suffering. The community in the north is huge and the treaty 5 and treaty 9 covers the land as large as france. E.g 3000 people out 26000 tried to commit suicide !in the last s years. This could be the highest ratio of rates of inidents to people mass in the world. Thus indicating the stressful conditions of treaty 5 and treaty9 land areas.

AANJIIWENDAMIN -discussions group.

Panel: Zanana, Randy, Soni, Victoria, Jacab, Pauline.

Q: What can be done to promote aboriginal cross cultural dialouge

Zanana : country requires that cultures need to work in silo. I.e isolatied communitys. Operating single manner, crelates competion and aurging for money and attention. I thnk we have to come together. The differences need to repected. What we in common is the goal. Its not a colur code, its about attitude.

Randy: imporatant too listen with the ears and your heart. The seven teachings are most important. Our words are scared. Our stories are scared. Therefore Leadership need to adhere to their word and follow thru with what they say. Encourage the leaders and community have to repect from their heart One another.

Soni: it hurts me too see that canada did not teach me about the first nation as part of history. Its upto us to hold the government responsible and accountable. Ifeel displaced from canada and also from India. Rewritung canadian history. Hate crimes and racism awareness. Racial profiling is being brought to the forefront. Its only through the pain of discussion can the healing begin.

Victoria : speaking from the point of non aboriginal. Issues of intergrity and trust are the key factors in building bridges. The first part is to understand colonization and domination. Then go thru the. Process of thruth to listen to the other subduesm First to ack the turth and secondly felt grief. Grief of loss and mourning. By that process, the understanding that there is continuity. What does repect ? It means to listen first. Also take action where possiblie. This is responsibility. "All of us are part of this relationship".

JAcob: the question is too broad. Touching two ppoints. Educatiuon is imprtant. Traditional education needs resurrected. Youth need to be promoted and helped. They have no funding. Give the youth a chance.

Pauline : (trusted grandmother)go back to the source. It goes back to the heart. The heart medicine comes from the orignal 4 colours. They were given the same medicine bags before they palced on motherr earth. Here on the physical plain, we have to back to the old teaching. Gotto back to the tracks and marks to see how firm they, as this shows what we are and who we are. The imbalance in life is thatwe have ack the original medicines that were given. We are all of one mind. Always working for the creator to make each one another to be better. Mother earth is getting ready for a new dress. We are all part of that dress.

Fw: TaubmanSucks Soars into the Blogosphere

-----Original Message-----
From: Hank Mishkoff
Date: Sun, 10 Apr 2005 15:56:04
To:TaubmanSucks@WebFeats.com
Subject: TaubmanSucks Soars into the Blogosphere

[Note: You're probably receiving this update because you expressed an interest in my TaubmanSucks website. If you do not wish to receive these updates, just let me know, and I'll remove you from the list.]

Ever since the TaubmanSucks case ended, I've been getting about 10,000 hits a week on my TaubmanSucks.com website.

A couple of weeks ago, however, the site got more than half a million hits in a single week -- including more than 200,000 hits on a single day!

Why the sudden spike in interest in a case that was dismissed more than two years ago?

On Saturday March 26, a old friend with whom I have had no contact in many years stumbled across the TaubmanSucks site. He emailed me with the suggestion that I should submit the site to a blog named Boing Boing. I had heard of blogs, of course (you'd have to have been living in a cave not to have at least heard of them), but I didn't know much about them at all. But I went to Boing Boing and submitted TaubmanSucks.com via their "suggest a site" link. And in the early hours of Sunday morning, Boing Boing posted a single paragraph (three sentences) about the TaubmanSucks site:

http://www.boingboing.net/2005/03/27/howto_defend_yoursel.html

Later that day, marketing guru Seth Godin (the author of "Permission Marketing" and other popular books) wrote a longer article about the case entitled, "You can always be mean later (respect works)," in which he concluded:

"Even if you're not a lawyer (or *especially* if you're not a lawyer) the lesson here is pretty clear: it doesn't matter who's 'right.' What matters is that giving people the benefit of the doubt and treating them with respect is not only more fun, it works better too." (Seth's article is online at http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2005/03/you_can_always_.html.)

In the next couple of days the "story" was picked up by dozens of other blogs, each exploring it in its own way:

* In "How To Lawyer When Everyone's Watching," attorney Marty Schwimmer wondered if the lesson was to "never draft a demand letter you wouldn't want to see posted on the recipient's website." His musings engendered an interesting discussion of lawyers, blogs, and ethics, which is online at http://www.corante.com/betweenlawyers/archives/2005/03/28/ethics_how_to_lawyer_when_everyones_watching.php.

* An attorney named Timothy Hadley posed the rhetorical question, "Am I in the wrong field if I do *not* think that law practice is all about manipulating others?" His article, "When lawyers drive a dispute," is online at http://blog.tph-lex.com/archives/entries/000240.html.

* Canadian non-lawyer (I think) Eric Eggertson titled his article, "Why Be Polite when You Can Be Nasty?" In his thoughtful posting, he suggests that, "for the next decade people will say, 'Oh, you're *that* Julie Greenberg' when they meet the woman who pissed off a little guy who used the Web to publicize his cause." You can read the rest of what Eric had to say at http://mutually-inclusive.typepad.com/weblog/2005/03/why_be_polite_w.html.

As far as I can tell, about 50 blogs expressed their own varied opinions about the case, I've collected links to them on my site at http://www.TaubmanSucks.com/blogs.html. I probably could have tracked down more of them, but I've barely had time to respond to the dozens (hundreds?) of emails that have poured into my inbox as a result of three sentences about a two-year-old lawsuit that appeared on a blog a couple of weeks ago.

Fw: Dialogue on Aboriginal Issues

To:Peter dawson
Subject: Re: Dialogue on Aboriginal Issues

I would be interested in sharing with you my personal story as a young girl who grew up in a Southwest native community who mom was a residential school survivor and dad's father was a war veteran who carried those behaviors throughout 2 generations of dysfunction which consisted of incest, drugs, alcoholism, and many other issues from growing up in a mainstream school full of racism, hate and hopelessness. This young girl started drinking at th age of 13, was anybody's girl because she was looking for love and caring from anyone, even if it felt yucky! She ran away from home and turned to the streets. Prostitution, drugs, bikers, clubhouses, a strippers lifestyle and hitchhiking all over southwestern ontario. She was searching, running away from anything and anyone. Went to jail, almost killed herself many times but failed at that too. Her life were with men who were in and out of jails, for robbing, drug dealing, biker related ! crimes back to living on the streeet!
s again. Many abusive relationships with men who were violent. Right to the very end, where she ended up with a retired Hell's ANgels from New York Chapter. 14 times in and out of Women shelters in her first year of sobriety. Her oldest son was the one who saved her life. He voiced and sobbed to mom," I can't do this anymore and I don't want to put my baby brother thru this either." That was the last time I looked back at a shelter for abused women. I moved forward, grieved one year for my dad who passed away from cancer with 11 years of sobriety. Moved to Brantford, went back to college at the age of 37 with 2 son's to raise. Graduated with honors and continued to work on her healing journey to wellness. TOday, she is a counsellor at a Native Family HEaling lodge, she still volunteers in the jails to help her people. Finally, is ready to work with the women and young women becaus! e for 2 years she could only work with the men because she discovered she needed!
to work on her own issues first.
She is first year Sundancer preparing to dance this year. She able to travel with a medicine man to California and then New Mexico. She will continue to help our people because this is her vision to give back what was given to her.
She was reminded awhile back when that women today was a runaway trying to survive on the street, said, " when I leave this street corner, I will be back to help my people from the shit and crap I have walked thru" I forget about this. In fact, I don't remember any of this. This is how messed up I was. My best friend, who still is today, reminded me of this.
This young girl was me. This is only a little of my story.

I should be attending the Sat April 16th/" Dialogue on Aboriginal Issues ".

I was wondering if there is anyone else on this list who would be this
event too ??

We are running a web catogory called as smokesignals.
http://peterdawson.typepad.com/blog/smokesignals/index.html

This catogory is in the sharing of information and knowledge on Native
Indian's. My intention resides in the 3P's concept. Promotion,
Preservation and Posterity of the culture, beliefs, traditions and
values of the Native Indians.

The Value statement is being driven from Elder Art Solomon, who said
"It's time for us to tell our own stories. For too long, we have had
the white man tell our story and now it's our turn, it's our turn to
talk and it's their turn to listen."

So as part of my learning and sharing experince, I would lik! e to know
if there is any possibility of hooking up with anyone so that you can
share with me your personal stories ??

Please let me know..
thanks in advnace
