"Google poisoner" - is this a first

This is a first time that Google is being assoicated with "Abetting" crime ?

Google poisoner tried to murder husband

"The jury was told that Knight used the internet search engine Google to find a method of killing her husband,"

I wonder what google will do when the Judge passes a decesion in which the content clearly mentions "Google" as being the primary instrument/method of planning of a murder !!

Will Google now sue the Judge/Attorney for using the brandname Google in a=legal document without consent of their IP Department ??

I don't agre

I sent an email (nice polite one ) to Membership Services, Canadian Society of Customs Brokers. In short, all I was asking them to do was to create a Group within Linkedin. Then I can associate my CCS designate to the Society on linkedin.

Their reply  "We will consider it when we are reviewing our web strategy for this year."

Hopefully, their  plan efforts for a web strategy does not take too long !

Twitter outage

Unplanned outage is in progress with Twitter. Been trying to catch the chatter on Edwards for over 1.5 hrs  all I get is

"Something is technically wrong.
Thanks for noticing—we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."

Way to go Twitter  !! - Yep we all have noticed. Scalability and incident response of web2.0 is reallly taxing and a near era of response factoring needs to be built. It's not easy

BarCodes and Ad's

Google: "2D barcodes are an especially exciting part of this because they allow readers to "click" on interesting print ads with their cellphones and seamlessly connect to relevant online content.

 Joel is kinda reserved in passing judgment on this one .

 Why is this important, the world is getting smaller and smaller based on Mobile Technologies. I remember a long time ago I was infected with the RFID virus and noted that in Japan the RFID market space  is researching ways of directly communicating to user community on the fly. That is to the generic user walking down the street, in terms of beeps - like saying "hey you wanted this article/thing/place, its now - just 3 feet away" - concept.

Now we need to extend that concept and if I scan a google barcode on an ad, glance at it and if I like what I read, I can then store in on my device. This then radiates that info to scanners/readers as I move around my pathway of life. When I get beeped its a scanner that is situated close by that reminds me that I flagged the item. Yep, just like playing a blue tooth game :)- .. so moving the product info to be on the wire and into the ether for the consumer. Well, is it intrusive - yeah it could be. but barcode are barcodes just like Sku number which you see at every darn item that you buy.. see the inter- relation now ??

I have been following the Conversation between Don and Philipp While reading Don' s rebuttal to Phillipp, this statement kinda got my interest.

"My number isn't listed, but that doesn't mean someone can't call me if they can guess it, or brute-force my area code, or otherwise get the number from some other source."

So a little bit of keyboad exercise and I got his number and gave him a call, just to verify that the number that I had was really him. It was.

So in my idiotic analogy mode;

" your private photos are still private" = " My number isn't listed"

and

"xxx" = "doesn't mean someone can't call me if they can guess it"

So what does "xxx" represent - IMHO, thats it's not in private mode anymore when someone obtains's your images. Its like saying I an't listed nowhere, but if think you got me- try giving me call - seemed to be like a challenge ( me bad - sucker for challenges !!) .

Just because customer have put your trust in your application and your service's does not mean that the blackhater out there can't do the obvious. .. Andy Baio already said it best

"This is the kind of security hole that could ruin lives. Don and the SmugMug crew are clued-in guys, so hopefully, they'll realize the gravity of this situation and change it immediately."

However, I must say - Don did a remarkable job in his rebuttal post. The Smug Team were very professional and involved within the conversation,as it unfolded. Kudos' to them !!

Update#1: Don's challenge of "a chance to strike it rich: I’ll give $1,000 USD to anyone who can get a copy of this photo" . Both Tony and Philipp crack it. Don is on pin's and needle's.

I found a funny bug at Twitter. I reply to a twit of Shel's , yet my replys seems to be displayed below his. How can that be possible ? Am I am working from the future - one minute ahead of real time ??
