The Tom Peters Weblog Dispatches from the New World of Work

Knowledge Worker U Jim McGee, writing in the Future Tense blog over at Corante, put up a post back in February titled, A reading list for aspiring knowledge workers. It seems like quite an interesting list. Just so happens that one of our fairly recent Cool Friends, Patricia Ryan Madson, is on the list for her book Improv Wisdom. Must be a good list. 55 Ways to Have Fun With Google By Tony Ruscoe In November last year, Google Blogoscoped's Philipp Lenssen announced that he would be writing a book titled “55 Ways To Have Fun With Google” about... well... fifty-five ways to have fun with Google. Philipp interviewed me a few days later as he needed a “Google expert” – and those are his words, not mine – for one of the chapters in the book, firing question after question about Google's services at me which I had to answer spontaneously. Anyway, 55 Ways to Have Fun With Google has finally been released via Lulu – which is apparently ‘the only place on the web where you can publish, sell and buy any and all things digital’ – and I've just ordered my copy. (I've even finally registered an account on Digg and dugg it to try and get it a bit more exposure.) I know Philipp's worked hard on this book, so congratulations to him on finally getting it finished and let's hope it sells well! Google Blogoscoped Forum Discussion on Google, other Search Engines, SEO, and Google Blogoscoped

Geolocation in the forum By Philipp Lenssen I'm playing around with an IP to location feature for the forum. Now when you click on a name you can see in brackets the country (based on the last post IP). Sometimes however the country is missing, and sometimes the PHP5 script returns an error. I'm using this API and binary file: http://www.maxmind.com/app/geoip_country I previously tried this but it returns empty recordsets on IPs I tried with: http://ip-to-country.webhosting.info/ I'd like to know if it shows right for your name. Also, if anyone knows of other good IP2location services...

vertical vs flat !!

My vertical segment metrics are beating the Broad Based entries, in terms of hit rate and page ranking.
